Hauling the rig to Laughlin, NV (90 miles SE of Las Vegas)? Learn which hotels host RV campgrounds or offer low-cost dry camping in their parking lots.

Only 90 miles from Las Vegas, Laughlin's Casino Drive is a miniature version of the Vegas Strip. The glitz has less glitter, the casinos are a bit smaller, the stakes are a bit lower, the pace is a bit slower, and the shows are less spectacular – but the fun is still huge. In fact, because of lower prices for rooms and meals, many fun-time gamblers pass over Las Vegas in favor of Laughlin.

For the RVer headed for Laughlin, here is an alphabetical list of Laughlin hotels and casinos indicating which do and do not allow RV camping.

Aquarius Casino Resort

"...Several other casinos offer dry camping opportunities in their parking lots, but unfortunately, due to space limitations, the Aquarius is not one of them," reports Shawna Browning, Executive Admin. Assistant, Marketing.

Avi Casino Resort

Eleven miles south of Laughlin on the Needles highway is the Laughlin/Avi Casino KOA. The campground is directly across the street from the casino (24-hour shuttle service is available) and according to the campground's web site, campers “are entitled to all of the Avi Resort and Casino's amenities, including the giant Vegas-style casino, private white sand beach, 9,000-square-foot lagoon pool (heated year-round), boat launch and fitness center.” Laundry, showers, phone, cable and Wi-Fi are available. Tents, pop-ups, and vans are not permitted.

Bayshore Inn

RV parking for registered guests only. No dry camping.

Colorado Belle Hotel & Casino

“We love our RV guests! Unfortunately, due to Clark County Health Department requirements, Colorado Belle cannot get necessary permits for RV Dry Camping. Consequently, we can not allow guests to stay in their RVs overnight,” states the FAQ on their website.

Options include leaving the RV parked in the lot while the guests are occupying a hotel room or moving the RV to the upper parking lot, which has 24-hour security and bus service to the hotel.

Don Laughlin's Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino

The Riverside runs a 740-space RV park with full hookups. Don't be put off by what shows along Casino Drive, as this park expands up the hill in tiers, and the upper two levels are reported to be the best. The park has mixed reviews on various RV web sites, but at roughly $25/night with tax, gravel pads, tight spacing, WiFi for a fee, and cable TV, the consensus is that it's an okay basic facility.

Edgewater Hotel & Casino

The Edgewater has an RV policy identical to that of the Colorado Belle.

Golden Nugget Laughlin

The Golden Nugget casino in Laughlin offers complimentary dry camping in the West parking lot, across from the hotel. The number of sites is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the Security Department on arrival for policies and procedures.

“You are welcome to use any of our facilities during your stay with us,” says Kathy Imboden, Executive Office Manager for the Golden Nugget. "RV campers can use Harrah’s dump station, just down the street. Complimentary wifi access is available in the nightclub. Portable wifi units for use on or off property are $10 per day, with $100 refundable deposit."

Harrah's Laughlin

Cecilia Marotto, Public Relations Coordinator for this Laughlin hotel, told Suite101 that "Harrah's Laughlin allows for dry camping in our parking lot located across the street from the main resort. Spaces are first come, first served and guests are required to register at the Harrah's-owned convenience store. All vehicles must be self-contained. Guests are charged a $5 per night/$25 per week fee and a sani-dump is available. Maximum stay is fourteen days but guests may renew their registration if they choose to extend their stay with us."

Along with the gaming facilities, says Marotto, RV guests have access to restaurants and retail outlets which include a salon & day spa and health club and a business center which provides internet access through an outsourced provider (fees applicable).

River Palms Resort Hotel & Casino

RV parking is available in a paved lot on a bluff across the street from the casino, says RVReviews.com. Sites are fairly level and wide. Free last year, the cost is now $7 per night. Most sites are fairly level and some give good views of the city. Pay at the registration desk then go to the Tropicana for a parking pass.

Tropicana Express Hotel & Casino

The Tropicana offers gaming, five restaurants, an outdoor heated pool and spa, and opens its parking lot to RV dry camping for $7/night or $35/week. Daily campers can top up tanks and use the sanidump for a $5 fee; the weekly fee includes the sanidump.

Laughlin Hotels that Provide RV Camping

The best bets, then, for RVers planning to camp near Laughlin casinos are the Riverside, the Avi, Harrah's, the Golden Nugget, and the Tropicana Express.

Information on availability and pricing was provided by hotel web sites, the hotels themselves, or the author's personal knowledge and was correct at the time of publication of this article. Because rates change annually, RV campers traveling to the area are advised to check ahead with the Laughlin hotel or casino where they plan to stay.
