RVing is economical compared to other holidays, so here are the rates for some luxury RV resorts and family vacation camping in British Columbia, Canada.

Each spring, RV West magazine publishes the favorites from a survey of their readership. Here is a look at the RV rates for camping at British Columbia's favorite private RV parks as selected in the third annual (2009) Reader's Choice Awards.

RVing needn't be expensive with great parks like this!

Platinum Award: RV Rates at Fairmont Hot Springs – A Luxury RV Resort

Fairmont was the 2009 Platinum winner. A number of factors make it attractive to RVers.

  • Natural therapeutic mineral hot springs – the largest odorless hot pool in Canada.
  • Eighteen scenic mountainside or riverside golf courses within a short drive.
  • A deluxe RV campground.
  • A wide range of activities in scenic Columbia Valley.

Gold Award: RV Rates at Camperland, Bridal Falls

Part of the Holiday Trails RV Campground Resort chain, Camperland at Bridal Falls in Roseland, BC was the Gold winner for 2009. “Nestled at the foot of majestic Mt. Cheam in beautiful British Columbia's Upper Fraser Valley,” says their web site, Camperland is “a 5-star resort [that] offers the finest in facilities and amenities.”

Nearby family attractions include

  • Bridal Falls Water Park
  • Dinotown
  • Minter Gardens
  • Harrison Hot Springs.

In addition to the usual amenities (laundry, playground, store etc.) the Camperland campground features

  • Heated Swimming Pool
  • Hot Tub and Sauna
  • Clubhouse with Restaurant
  • Fitness Center.

As for the RV campground itself, the resort has

  • 220 Full hook-up sites and 11 partial hook-up sites
  • Tenting/dry camping sites are available
  • 30A and 50A power sites
  • Can handle RV lengths up to 45 ft.

Rates are $40-$50 per night (2010 rates, subject to change) during peak season (May 21 - Sept. 6).

Silver Award: RV Rates at KOA, Revelstoke

Revelstoke is a popular tourist destination and the Silver Award-winning KOA is only 3 miles west on Highway 1 (TransCanada Highway), at the foot of Mt. Begbie. The 200 sites are “lush and grassy” and well treed for privacy and shade.

Amenities include a heated pool, riding at nearby Nelles Ranch, two playgrounds, a variety of family activities, pancake breakfast daily during high season, and private fire rings on request.

RV Rates

  • Low season: from $28.30 for a site with no hookups to $39.30 for full hookup with 50A
  • High Season: From $31.30 (no hookup) to $47.30 (full-hookup, 50A).

Bronze Award: KOA, Clearwater BC

Clearwater/Wells Gray KOA is located on the road to Wells Gray Provincial Park, just off Highway 5. The campground is about 126 km (76 mi) from Kamloops, 310 km (191 mi) from Jasper National Park, and 30 minutes from the entrance to Wells Gray.

Spacious treed sites, heated outdoor pool, and family activities make for a pleasant stay.

Rates range from $28 (back-in, water, 30A) to $34 a night (pull-through, full hookup, 50A).

These RV resorts have been voted favorites by visiting RVers, so each is almost guaranteed to be a great spot to stop.
