Only 8 miles from Sedona, Arizona, Lolo Mai Springs Resort offers full-service RV sites, tenting, and cabins on scenic Oak Creek in historic Verde Valley.

“Lo lo mai,” according to the campground manager, is a Hopi phrase with many meanings, including “hello”, “good-bye”, and “beautiful”. That last meaning certainly applies to the area.

Once of cultural importance to native peoples and now a centerpiece of this outdoor Sedona resort, the Lo Lo Mai Springs flow year-round at an estimated 365 gallons per minute at approximately 63° F.

The scenic spot is the exclusive domain of dozens of waterfowl — human swimmers must use the resort's heated pool or nearby Oak Creek. This is no hardship.

The 27-acre resort is a marvelous tree-shaded natural setting with ¾ mile of shoreline along Oak Creek. The clear creek alternates between rippling rock-beds and inviting pools; no lifeguards are provided, so creek activities are own-risk and children must be supervised.

Amenities at Lo Lo Mai Springs Resort

Besides the spring-fed pond, natural surroundings, and Oak Creek swimming, this rustic Sedona resort offers:

  • Clean restrooms
  • Hot showers
  • Propane (LPG) sales
  • Heated swimming pool and hot spa (closed in winter)
  • Convenience store
  • Lending library and free videos
  • Laundry
  • Clubhouse
  • Free WiFi (highly limited locations)
  • Children's playground
  • Volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, shuffleboard.

The abundance of water in the area encourages the growth of huge cottonwood, cyprus, and conifers. Many of these mature trees are gnarled and twisted and some of the stumps will be irresistible to children who like to climb over and crawl under these natural playgrounds.

Important notes:

  • There is no cell phone service in the area.
  • WiFi is limited to the clubhouse and two RV sites immediately adjacent to the clubhouse.

RV Sites at Lo Lo Mai Springs Resort in Sedona

The 75 RV sites are divided roughly into two areas: front lots and creekside lots. About 50 are full hookup (water, electric, sewer) while the rest are water/electric only "due to flood restrictions". Ten of the larger front sites have 50A service; the others are 30A/15A.

  • Front Lots – Closest to the amenities, these lots have concrete patios with picnic tables, BBQs, and fire rings (firewood available at the Sometime Store)
  • Creek Lots – These lack the pads and picnic tables, with parking instead on grass and the native red soil. These sites do have power and water hookups, and most sites have creek views.

RV Rates at Lo Lo Mai Springs Resort

  • RV sites are priced on the length of the rig and the number of campers, says owner Dan Brown. For two adults, for example:
    • Rig under 30' – $32
    • Rig 40' with no slides – $42.
  • "On certain weekends there is an additional $5/night charge for visits of 2 nights or less," says Brown.
  • Additional adults are $15 each/day and children are $4 each /day.
  • Pets are $4 per animal per day.
  • There is an additional charge for laundry, so bring lots of quarters.

Although pets are accepted, there are areas in the campground where pets are not permitted, and the usual leash regulations apply.

In contrast to a few negative comments on various RV review sites, we found the management helpful and friendly and the facilities clean and well-maintained. This rustic resort in Sedona has a sort of summer-camp feel, offering not only creekside and standard RV sites but also a number of cabins (from basic to two bedroom) and acres of tenting sites.
